Dr Míriam Cuatrecasas

Specialist in Cytology, Gastrointestinal and Biliopancreatic Pathology

Doctor of Medicine and Surgery, Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She specialised in Pathological Anatomy through the MIR residency programme at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau.

She has been the head of Digestive Pathology in the Pathological Anatomy department at Hospital Clinic since 2009, where she was head of the Thoracic, Digestive and Metabolic Pathology Unit from 2019 to 2023. She is the head of the Molecular pathology of inflammatory conditions and solid tumours research group at the Barcelona Clinic Foundation-August Pi Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS), scientific coordinator of the IDIBAPS Biobank Tumour Bank, coordinator of the Tumour Bank Network of Catalonia (XBTC), and a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Barcelona (UB).

She did a research fellowship in molecular pathology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. She is on the board of the European Society of Pathology (ESP), a member of the Spanish Society of Pathological Anatomy (SEAP), where she was treasurer from 2015 to 2019, and the Catalan Society of Pathological Anatomy (SCAP).

She has published 223 indexed papers in national and international journals, cited 7,247 times with an h-index of 46.
